2021 Dodge Durango Overview
The Dodge Durango stands alone among midsize three-row crossovers because it is the only one to deliver true American muscle in the form of a Hemi V8 that can tow as much as 8,700 pounds. The new 2021 Dodge Durango arrives in Amityville New York at Security Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram with some exciting updates. The exterior aesthetic has been overhauled for a more modern and more aggressive look. SXT and SXT Plus
The SXT is the first of the trim levels available for the 2021 Dodge Durango in Amityville New York. It features an eight-speed automatic transmission mated to a 3.6-liter Penstar V6 engine that makes 295 hp and 260 lb.-ft. As with most Durango trims, rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional. Rear-wheel drive models feature a load-leveling suspension. Standard exterior features include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, LED fog lamps and keyless access. The cabin features five-passenger seating, cloth upholstery, triple-zone auto temperature control, push-button ignition, an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen and a six-speaker sound system. GT and GT Plus
The GT is the second of the 2021 Dodge Durango trim levels, and it builds off the SXT Plus. It comes with the third row of seating and thus a seven-passenger capacity. You have the option of second-row fold-and-tumble captain chairs, which reduces that capacity to six. This trim adds black grille and window surround that give the exterior a more distinctive appearance. The wheels are upgraded to 20-inch black alloy. The cabin is enhanced with a flat-bottomed steering wheel. The GT Plus adds heating to that steering wheel. It also adds heated front and second-row seats, remote start and a power liftgate.
R/T
The R/T builds off the GT Plus, and it drops the standard V6 for a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 rated for 360 hp and 390 lb.-ft. This increases the available towing capacity from 6,700 to 8,700 pounds. Other mechanical upgrades including a performance steering system and a performance suspension system. The exterior is upgraded with 20-inch Fine Silver aluminum wheels and a Fine Silver dual exhaust. The infotainment system is upgraded with the Uconnect 5 infotainment system with a 10.1-inch touchscreen and a wireless charging pad. Other cabin upgrades include a power-adjustable front passenger seat.
Citadel
The Citadel diverges a bit from the previous trim levels. Instead of building on the R/T, it builds on the GT Plus. It does not have the V8 or any of the R/T mechanical options. It does, however, include all of the optional features that are available with the GT Plus, which is a considerable list. This trim is aimed at the consumer who does not need the added performance and towing but does want a Durango loaded with creature comforts and technologies. This includes advanced driving aids, such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, rain-sensing windshield wipers and lane keep assist.
SRT and SRT Hellcat
The SRT is aimed at the driver who wants the best of worlds between the R/T and the Citadel. The SRT is even more powerful in that it features a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 SRT that makes 475 hp and 470 lb.-ft. In addition to the mechanical enhancements found on the R/T, the SRT is upgraded with an adaptive suspension and performance brakes. Inside, it gets upgraded leather upholstery and sport seating. The SRT Hellcat is the newest of the 2021 Dodge Durango trim levels, and it is essentially the same as the SRT but adds the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 SRT engine that makes more than 700 horsepower.
